The KUUB Permanent Secretariat was invited by the Sarawak Ministry of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD) to attend the Strategic Planning Meeting Workshop for the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) under the Socio-Cultural & Education cluster. The workshop was held from 12-14 March 2024 at The Waterfront Hotel in Kuching, Sarawak. During the workshop, collaborative projects between the four countries were planned for 2024-2025.
The event was attended by 500 delegates, including representatives from the Ministries of Higher Education of Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, and the Philippines, as well as various government ministries from the four countries. Prof. Dr. Shahrul Razid Sarbini and Tuan Haji Fakhzan Haji Buang represented the KUUB Secretariat and presented a series of KUUB activity plans to BIMP-EAGA.
The workshop aimed to strengthen cooperation among the four countries, focusing on economic development, education, transportation, tourism, human resources, socio-culture, the environment, information technology, trade, and diplomatic relations. Several KUUB activities were agreed upon by BIMP-EAGA delegates to be included in the BIMP-EAGA planning calendar for 2024-2025.
