Konsortium Universiti Universitas Borneo (KUUB) is a collaborative alliance committed to advancing education, innovation, community, and talent development.
Established in 2023 as the brainchild of Universiti Putra Malaysia Kampus Bintulu (UPMKB), KUUB brings together 16 founding member universities from Malaysia (Sarawak and Sabah), Indonesia (Kalimantan), and Brunei Darussalam. UPMKB serves as the Permanent Secretariat.
The initiative aims to strengthen commitment and strategic partnerships among public and government-owned universities in Borneo. It supports excellence, capacity building, and internationalization in teaching and learning, research and innovation, as well as student and staff mobility and graduate employability.
KUUB’s goals are endorsed by the Ministry of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD) of Sarawak and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) Malaysia. The consortium seeks to establish an international platform for higher education in the Borneo region, enhancing educational standards across the archipelago and positioning these three countries as key destinations for higher education in Asia.
KUUB consists of 16 public and government-owned universities in the Borneo region:
